First I want to say... these are GREAT first attempts! Was surprised when I couldn't get a 'bigger picture' when I click on the ones on this page. I think it has something to do with the way they are titled????? or... more likely it was a blogger error. I posted 2 smaller pix while you were doing these & one of mine doesn't have a bigger pic or even a '404' error page. Will talk later. ;-)
Only want to make a couple of comments! Great subject matter. Beautiful flowers and handsome kitty (my Bubba!) ;-)
The fuzzy flower? I sometimes get something like that when I'm in 'macro' mode and get too close to the flower... or if I didn't make sure it's in focus.
I think you're almost there with the water droplets on the red flower. Next time try to focus directly into the center of the flower and see what you get. (I haven't done this yet myself.)
When you're in a garden like this - try different angles and various groupings of flowers... focus in on one group, etc. You're doing GREAT!!! ;-)
I've observed your dad 'squatting' to get right at a subject or for a different viewpoint... or standing sort of above, overlooking the subject... you've got the idea! ;-)
I think you're doing great too, Shar! Maybe you already know this, but when you're in macro, make sure you're not using your zoom at all. At least with my camera, I have to make sure the lens is all the way in (or not zoomed in at all anyway).
I wish I was QUALIFIED to give you advice; it's all a matter of playing around with your camera settings...

I loved the pictures, and I have no technical advice to give, but I do think you should take more cat pictures.
